Cornerstone Expands Sydney Office With Senior Appointment

Leading bipartisan government relations and advocacy firm Cornerstone Group Australia has appointed James Cullen as Senior Director – Government Relations in its Sydney office as it strengthens its national public affairs, government relations and corporate communications services.

James served as Chief of Staff and Senior Media Adviser for over 15 years in both government and opposition.

During this time in Canberra he provided strategic counsel and advice on some of the biggest national and international issues and policies.  He also brings an unparalleled understanding of the Canberra press gallery and the wider media landscape in Australia.

James has been at the centre of decision‐making in government and opposition and brings a unique understanding of parliamentary procedure, including policy and legislation development, as well as the budget and election cycles and how to effectively engage across the political spectrum.

Reporting into Cornerstone Founder and Executive Director, Joe Tannous and working alongside General Manager Peter Fraser, James will be responsible for helping to drive Cornerstone’s growth across its range of government relations, public affairs and corporate communications services.

His knowledge and experience in policy and legislation development, crisis management and stakeholder engagement will enable clients to effectively respond to and shape government decisions in the national interest.

His communications experience also includes coordinating campaigns, providing crisis and issues management advice, and round the clock rapid responses that meet the demands of the 24/7 news cycle.

James has completed a Bachelor of Economics (Social Science) degree majoring in Government and International Relations.
