Cornerstone expands with the appointment of Nick Melas

Leading bipartisan government relations and advocacy firm Cornerstone Group Australia has appointed Nick Melas as Senior Director – Government Relations, strengthening its national service offering in corporate and public affairs, corporate communications and government relations services.

Cornerstone Founder and Executive Director, Joseph Tannous welcomed
the appointment. “I am confident Nick’s talent and expertise will add real value to our clients, while overseeing our continued growth.”

Nick’s deep knowledge of government processes, strong relationships with a broad and genuinely bipartisan network of decision makers and influencers, and a hands-on practical understanding of complex regulatory frameworks will enhance the already high level of service that Cornerstone clients have come to expect. He worked previously in the offices of the Hon. Gary Punch MP, Minister for Defence Science and Personnel, and the Hon. Robert McClelland MP, Shadow Attorney-General and Shadow Minister for Industrial Relations.

In addition to his time in Government and his more than ten years in consulting, Nick also co-founded a leading medico-legal consultancy.
Operating in a sensitive and highly regulated environment gave him a
unique perspective on government relations as he truly sees the issues
and challenges confronting clients through their eyes.

He has also successfully represented client interests across banking and
finance, transport infrastructure, telecommunications, health and
resources – with specialised expertise in the gig economy, retail, IT and digital transformation.

As Senior Director, Nick Melas will sit on the Cornerstone Advisory Board with the senior leadership team, joining the Hon. Simon Crean, the Hon. Rob Borbidge and the Hon. Craig Laundy
