The Cornerstone Group held its first Insights Forum event for 2021 this week focussing on the importance of reaching ‘across the aisle’ and the bipartisanship that underpins Parliamentary committee work – with prominent MP’s and likely future Ministers Jason Falinski MP (Liberal) and Hon Matt Thistlethwaite MP (ALP) as our special guests.

Jason and Matt have a strong personal relationship and regularly work together on areas of mutual interest. They also regularly demonstrate the importance of parliamentary committees and how to influence change to policy and legislation through this important work. This is often – despite the headlines and sensationalist media – how the Federal Parliament functions and how the overwhelming majority of legislation passes both houses of parliament without amendment.

The MPs addressed an in-person group of Cornerstone’s clients (business and NGOs) over lunch at Doltone House Hyde Park, followed by a lively discussion and Q&A led by Cornerstone’s Co-Chairs, Hon Simon Crean and Hon Craig Laundy.
