James is a well‐respected and experienced professional who worked as a political adviser to senior cabinet ministers in the Australian Government.

He has served as both a Chief of Staff and Senior Media Adviser for more than 15 years in both government and opposition, predominately with the Hon Chris Bowen MP.

James has been at the centre of decision-making at the federal level and has provided strategic counsel and advice to Australia’s leaders on the nation’s biggest domestic and global issues and policies. 

His deep understanding of Australian economic and tax policy and as well as understanding the national landscape driving reforms that shape and determine government decisions and outcomes.

He also brings to the Cornerstone team a unique understanding of parliamentary procedure, including policy and legislation development, as well as the budget and election cycles and how clients can effectively engage with these processes to achieve their business and commercial objectives. 

James has unparalleled expertise in understanding and managing the national political and media cycle, and its effect on markets and commercial interests.

He has designed and delivered highly effective media and communication strategies that reflect his understanding of the Canberra press gallery and the wider media landscape – as well as their influences and audiences in regional, national and state markets.

His communications experience is rounded out by coordinating and managing major campaigns; providing crisis and issues management advice; and delivering round the clock rapid responses in a 24/7 news cycle.

James has completed a Bachelor of Economics (Social Science) degree majoring in Government and International Relations.
