The economic credentials, leadership and advisory successes at the highest levels of government and private enterprise underscore the value of Peter’s consultative expertise for Cornerstone at every level.
In retiring from politics Peter relinquished his role as Chief Economist to the Prime Minister, the Hon Malcolm Turnbull MP. Prior to that he was the Assistant Minister for Finance, Assistant Cabinet Secretary and Assistant Minister for Productivity.
Peter’s career bestrides the corporate and public sectors, including board positions with Standards Australia, the Australian Institute of International Affairs, the Australian Made campaign and the National Institute of Labour Studies and as CEO of the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
On the global stage Peter’s experience encompasses the OECD’s International Chamber of Commerce, Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Executive Directorship of the Bahrain Economic Development Board in the Middle East.
In the halls of government Peter has held the pivotal Chief of Staff position for the Ministers for Workplace Relations and Small Business, Defence, Employment and Education and Training. He has also been Chief of Staff to the Leader of the Federal Opposition.
Peter was awarded a Centenary Medal by the Governor General for service to Australian society in business leadership and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Peter holds a B.Ec. (Hons) from the University of Queensland and a PhD from the University of Canberra.
